Where? When?

We are extremely early in our wedding planning. so nothing is set in stone yet, but there are some things we definitely agree on.

The first is where the wedding will be. Renato suggested getting married at the Glenora Inn and Distillery more than a year ago, and since I could not think of any other place. Glenora is just north of Mabou, Cape Breton, which means it is a bit out of the way. But since we live in Calgary, Ren's Family is in Winnipeg, and *most* of mine is in Nova Scotia, any place we pick will be out of the way for someone.

Glenora is the only place in North America where single malt whiskey is produced. They have a dining room, pub, and several chalets to rent out. You can also go on a tour of the distillery. I've emailed the owner for more information on booking the inn, hopefully I will get more information soon, so I can become more secure on dates and costs. From what I have learned so far, the dining room can only have a maximum of 45 people, us included, so the wedding will be quite small. I like the idea of having a small wedding tho, and having it on the same grounds as the reception. Along with the inn, there are a lot of B&B's all around the area. We stayed in one several years ago when we first visited Glenora, and it was a beautiful B&B to stay in.

As for the date, we are thinking Fall, 2008. I have lots of time to prepare!

My First Post

Lots of people have wedding blogs now, so I thought I'd try one out too!

I should start with the first part of the wedding which has already happened, the engegement
I preposed to Renato on March the 18th on a footbridge in Confederation Park. It was snowing and cold, and the park was almost empty

Renato did not expect the preposal or the ring. It was so amazing to surprise him like that

The ring was made by Craftsman, he specilizes in making rings out of recycled wood. The wood I choose is oak from a wine barrel
